I've got the new cps in but I forgot how it was routed, if it went under the water pump or not? Thanks for the help.

For the belt, the writing should be upside down when you're looking at it (i.e. it should be readable if you are on the driver's side, and upside down from the passenger side). I think thats there your discrepancy is coming from on the marks lining up.

As for the CPS wiring, let me find a picture.

Did you edit out part of the original question?

The wiring harness for the CPS? It routes from the electrical connector on the driver side of the rear, metal timing belt cover and forward of the fuel rails, down through the gap forward of the fuel rails on the driver side of the rear, metal belt cover, across the firewall side of the water pump, clipping onto to the long bolt on the rear of the pump case, through the rubber grommet on the top of the lower plastic timing belt cover (3.0L) and finally to the CPS.

sdpatt,
Yea I edited the original question. It was a brain fart error I coulda remedyed myself if I woulda slowed down and read the directions. Thanks for the reply, it took me awhile before I realized I had to go behind the fuel rails with the cps harness but its all back together now with no left over parts. Now for the upper 60k!

Technically Scott, the factory location is BEHIND the fuel rails, which necessitates the removal of the timing belt, cam gears, and rear metal timing cover. Or, you can do it the easy way as Scott mentioned, and route it in front of the fuel rail. :)

I know that when I service a SHO and find the CPS wiring still behind the fuel rails, I can safely assume that the sensor is OEM installed. The wire cares not one whit which route it takes around the fuel rails. Save yourselves a great amount of effort and just route it forward of the fuel rails. Much easier.

Oh, I totally agree, I just wanted to clarify for folks who may not have had a crank sensor done look at the behind-the-rail location & not go freaky because you said the routing goes in front and theirs is behind.

Most people on here take your every word & process it into permanent, biblical proportion creedo, remember. thumb

Scott,
Yea I got the gaping procedure from you awhile ago. Definately is the way to go. I would like to thank everyone for who answered my questions dureing my 60k. Its all done and runs like a ***** ape. I was even suprised to find bosch platinums being used and even more suprised to fine my local ford dealership selling the original plugs and even MORE suprised that it only cost me 20 bucks. Thanks again everyone. Now for the real test, will it bring me 1,500 miles back to colorado??

A bit scary, don't you think?

I try to be as accurate and informative as possible with my responses. I will make every effort to continue to do so. I just like SHOs.
