I just replaced my CPS (Crank Position Sensor) and also my front oil seal....Definitely a work out for me between 2 jobs and 115 degree temps. Change out is complete and now the car won't start and turns over fine cranking on the tach is up at 500 rpms from 300 rpms before the new cps was installed. I pulled the codes and got a 211 indicating that the PIP Ignition circuit was erratic. Does anybody have an idea about where I should start to trouble shoot. Ignition and accessories all seem to be working as they did before so I'm kinda lost. Thanks for the wisdom.

Virgil,

Some things to check:

Did you gap the CPS to .030"?

Is the new CPS harness plugged in near the fuel pressure regulator on top?

Have you checked timing with a timing light? This will also tell you if you're getting spark.

Are all four screws holding the DIS onto the crossover tube?

Is the braided flat strap still connecting the rear-passenger side intake support bracket to the firewall?

Tom,

I'm gapped ok I did do that

CPS is connected

Timing as far as a timing light I don't have that nor has it been done since I put everything back.

All four screws are on the DIS

I'll check for the braided strap is still connected because I don't remember pulling it off.

P.S. I did move my timing pulley (the right one) and I think that is a part of the pboblems I'm having. I'm going to pull the belt Saturday and start over with timing the belt and the pulleys and see what happens.

Virgil,

Make sure the little locating pin on that right side camshaft sprocket didn't fall out while you had it off. I'm going to Tucson tomorrow to help the kids out in a building project, so I can't help you out. Sorry.
