my 95 sho 3.2 has been acting very funny i replaced the coilpack no help still acting the same. the check engine light comes and go`s. its only stalled a few times then took a bit to restart. i had the codes checked it said the timing was off or something. but it only seems to do it when i run it a bit and warm the engine up pretty good then if i shut it off, it wont restart right off cranks cranks cranks and nothing. sometimes it will fire and start then studder very bad even backfire and stall. and once or twice the tach didnt work even after i got it started and seemed to be running fine?

You can learn how to get your own codes from the link in my Sig, then tell us what codes you found and we will all be one step farther in the right direction.

Yup, you need to run the codes. That's the first place to start before you replace any more part.

NY for now, WY for real
Ditto what they said.

It probably sounds like the Crank Position Sensor. Could be a cam sensor though.

I'd definitely make sure (via engine codes) before doing the work though...

If coil # 3 is having problems (DTC 217), then that could cause a spark timing error (221).

You might want to check all the plug wires for spark (do it while cranking), and also make sure the coil pins have battery power with the key on.

FWIW, if you are looking at the pins on the coil itself (harness connector removed) the order from left to right is as follows: Coilpack Power, Coil 2, Coil 3, Coil 1.
