Very recently my transmission has seemed to get weaker as far as shifting goes. It will shift fine WOT (well about as fine as a 139k trans can do) but the 1-2 shifting from 2400-3400 rpm is getting sloppy.

I looked at my fluid and it was actually red/pink, and it has not been changed since 90k (with a new filter at that time). I replaced my radiator a few weeks ago so maybe there was some fluid lost there. It didn't seem that the level was by any means low though.

I'm aware that there's not a lot I can do at this point, but I'm looking for suggestions of things to try. Here are a few I've thought about:

1. Change the fluid and the filter, maybe put a more viscous trans fluid in
2. Change the fluid
3. Drive it with less intensity
4. Don't do anything
5. Top off the fluid and let her go

If anyone has any tips or sugestions feel free to post them.

I'm pretty sure mine is going to crap out any day now.
1-2 shifts have always been extremely hard if you don't keep your foot on the gas just a little bit
4-3 down shift it can't seem to find it some times. Just bounces the car around till you let off the gas.
And other days every shift is a little rough.

I was going to flush it and check out the sensors. Hopefully that will help. I only have 58k on the trans. And only have had the car for about 10k. Feels like its going to puke the internals out any time now.

My only suggestion to you would be maybe a cooler to extend the life and check maybe change the TSS. Heard it has things to go about shifting from 1st-2nd.

Maybe I should add that the sloppy shift happen when the car has been running a while

Exactly what my original ATX did, before it bit the dust. I bought mine at 123k and it was doing that and occasionally slamming into 1st on WOT. I took it to 142k before I drove it to the transmission shop. So, be gentle and save up, it might last you awhile. Oh, I would change the fluid and filter to help it along ( I wouldn't flush it, just the pan and filter). These ATX's seem to respond well to Castrol Dextron/Mercon ATF fluid.
