could I put an airbag from a 91 on an 89?

The reason I ask is I think the 91 wheel looks so much better and my 89's wheel is all worn down and not the greatest looking. The 89 doesn't have an airbag and the 91 does have an airbag could the bag go off even if i didn't hook up the electronics for it or no? Also are the cruise control connectors the same for the years? Is this an easy swap or not?

I believe both wheels attach the same, so you could probably do it. Naturally the air bag itself would be non-functional.

Only possible complication I could see is God forbid you're ever in a serious accident that requires you to be cut out of the car, they could lose valuable time making sure the non-existent air bag system is disabled since the bag wouldn't have deployed.
