Hi, im new here and thought i’d seek help.

So... recently my car has had an engine light pop up and when acceleraing (especially heavy acceleration) the car feels like its holding back really hard, sometimes juddering as if something is blocked somewhere and then suddenly it will eventually push through it if you hold pedal down... When i take out the MAF sensor plug.. it seems to accelerate fine but i noticed the idle is rough.. although it might be a bit rough with it plugged in too, i havent really took notice of idle conditions until just before i wrote this. I did however rev car quickly while rough idling was happening (sensor unplugged) and let go of pedal and it just cut out when it went down to 750 revs again.. strange. But only done it once.

Took it to vauxhall/perrys garage. Codes were p0101, p0172 and p1101. they ordered a “solenoid valve” apparently and claimed it was fine, i took it out and it felt same, engine light back on same day. Took it back, then they changed MAF sensor, they cleared alarms manually and claimed its all amazing again. I took it out, same still, light back on.
Took it again, they said we found a pipe bust and thats why it cant build enough pressure up. I wasnt convinced because it accelerates fine without sensor plugged in. Anyways, still same when i took it for a drive, light back on.

now i’m going to take it back after the weekend. Is there any suggestions on here of what it could be? Is there anything i could have a go at myself? I thought it might’ve been the plug or cable that may be dodgy but the plug looks ok visually atleast. Im not much of a car guy but I am a multi skilled maintenance engineer in a factory so I can get dirty if need be.

i do however feel that the rough idle might be a different problem to the bad turbo acceleration. Although i could be wrong.
Thanks.

Ummmm, you realize you're posting in a Ford Taurus SHO forum, right?

Not that folks wouldn't be willing to help, just the experiences are different and you may not get the best answer you're looking for as the issues may manifest differently on different makes. Might be better finding a forum dedicated to a similar platform or model.

We'd love to have you though...

Seems you may have a bad injector you can try swapping injectors and see if the code changes from one cylinder to the other or you maybe able to run the car with the injector out of the car
With injectors they usually get stuck full on or full off when one goes bad so should be easy to tell.

Yes if this was a taurus we might know what would be wrong quicker but same trouble shooting steps are the same

I'd recommend a good scanner for you anything from obdlink.com they have all the options and 90% reliable I've read some people having issues but far less then the cheapest amazon ones which a lot of the time are chinese replicas.

Managed to get the dealership i bought it from to reply, manager was being ignorant for a few days before telling them I’d simply have to go through ombudsman if it gets too far, sure enough; Their workshop manager rung me same afternoon so that message must’ve got through to them. I guess if they fix it and let me know what it was. Ill post an update, probably be useless for this forum but oh well, never know, could help someone.
