well, after having some problems with keeping Jasmine running cool, i found out tonite that the radiator fan is toast. so now, i must replace. but a few questions and some advice needed. should i buy a complete new fan and motor assembly ? where is the best place to get a fan motor at a decent price ? there is nothing wrong with the fan itself. anyone running an aftermarket fan ? pros and cons ? i prolly posted this in the wrong section (sorry Mods) but anywho. i recently replaced my radiator due to it splitting on the DS tank, near the fan assembly mount. tonite i changed my thermostat and also came across a surprise. the cooling passage into the block and the tube on the other side of the radiator were expectionally clean (no corrosion or sign of a dirty cooling system). after replacing the radiator, the engine temp would get up to just below the "L" on the idiot gauge and would stay there while driving. however, when i would stop and idle for a while(like at a drive-thru), the temp would rise and never come back down. and i never hear the fan come on any more. luckily, when it starts to get a little too hot for my comfort, im already at my destination (work). ok, geez Dale, wanna ramble any more ?

TIA

Dale,

just out of curiousity, how do you know that your cooling fan is no longer working? this may not apply, but one day last summer i noticed my temp skyrocketing while i was on the highway... took it to the nearest ford dealership (had no choice with temp above the "N" and 30 miles from home) and had a look at the fan in the parking lot... noticed that it was barely turning... i thought the motor was crapped out, but as it turns out the pin that affixes the fan itself to the shaft from the fan motor was gone... new pin and i was on my way... just a thought...
