:pWhere is the sensor that controls the dashboard gauge located. And does it send info to the computer or just to the tempiture gauge. I'm having trouble it's pegged at C. Unless I let it idle for a while then it will move up but not where it should. I did just change the themostat. Spilled coolant on the wire harness below also. Thanks for any help.

There are two electrical connectors side by side for coolant related processing. 1 is the sending unit for the dash (has 1 wire). Then there's another with 2 wires, the ECT, that is the sensor for the reading to the computer.

What kind of thermostat did you install?

The one for the gauge is in the front head on the drivers side behind the coil pack. Its fairly easy to replace..

Ok. The temp. gauge takes for ever to start moving. The upper hose is hot and hard so there's pressure. I'm thinking I have a bad temp. sending unit. Can someone please post a picture or illustration of where it is.. The one for the gauge. I already replace the sending unit for the PCM. Now the gauge does move. The fan kicks on about a little less then the halfway mark. Thanks.

Below the throttle body. As mentioned, the single wire sensor is for the dash gauge, the two-wire is the ECT sensor for the PCM.

Problem solved: replaced temp. gauge sending unit(one wire). And replaced degasser tank (coolant recovery tank). I don't know which one was causing the issue but temp. gauge is locked where it should. Around 24mph mark. My heat is still blowing luke warm unless rpm are up. I'm thinking clogged heater core or air bubble. Any help about that would be great. Maybe how to thoroughly bleed or back flush heater core I.e. hose location or procedure. Thanks.

I bought it from napa. I will get the box from garage and post. Make sure you ask for the screw end connection, not the 2 wire.

Oh, really. I tried removing mine myself. No luck...I chose to go to Pep Boys to give them a crack at it.

I bought the necessary tools, and I used penetrant spray, but no luck.

Holy erected erected chats Batman!

It sounds as if you got this fixed. It's buried under the throttle body and does have a bit of loctite-type sealant on it, but normally isn't too hard to get off. I've had to replace this on both my SHO's, but I have always found that any of the new ones don't give an accurate reading on my gauge cluster. I only have replaced them since it would annoy me if it didn't work, but I use the ODB-II and Android Dash to monitor the car. What they give you in the dash is ineffective and doesn't sound a buzzer when there are issues. Not even a monitor for transmissions (TFT) temps which would help premature failure of the things...
