Started the car after it had sat overnight, and drove 10 km to a drive through to grab some coffee, and noticed the temp gauge was at the first notch on the cold mark.. kinda strange after driving it for a while.

Then the gauge went right up to the middle mark within 2-3 seconds after noticing it was cold.

I'm thinking the coolant temperature sender might be messed up, anyone know the exact location of this part? (and is there 2? 1 for the ECM and 1 for the gauge?)

It's left of the thermostat on the drivers side of the engine. Under the intake.

There are two. The one on the front side of the engine is the one you're concerned with. It has one little wire that sticks onto the sensor (it grounds through the block). You'll need either a 19mm or 21mm socket (I can't remember) to change it. Don't forget to put teflon tape on the new sensor!

Hawk where is the other one at? I'm going to replace both while everything is apart on the 93.

The other one's at the rear of the engine... it's kinda hidden, but if you remove the metal tube that holds the t-stat in, you should be able to see it. It's at a 45 degree angle to the engine and firewall... kinda pointed at the A pillar. It's got a 2-wire connector on it, and it is a total bitch to get on and off. You will need a 1" deepwell socket to replace that sensor. And small girly hands.

There are actually 3 sensors. The third is by the firewall on the drivers side.

Here is the one you need to replace (one wire connector)
010 2

Here is the sencond one. As Hawkeye stated. (black connector)
011 2

And the 3rd by the firewall. But you should be fine just replacing the first one. (all green looking)

No, there are only two sensors.

The third illustrated (green) is the CELO (Cold Engine Lock Out) switch. It is a component of the EATC that will lock out the A/C compressor function until the engine warms up a bit.

It is recommended to not attempt removal of that switch from the heater pipe.
