Coolant problem:coolant light on

my coolant light keeps coming on. Every once in awile my clamp comes off the upper radiator hose and it leaks out there so then i get why my light comes on. Now it just seems to come on. Could this be an electrical problem? I changed the t stat even though the other one wasnt bad. I bled the radiator somewhat but i should prolly do it again. What could this problem be?

The coolant light comes on to indicate a low coolant level. Is your reservior filled to the proper level? You may need to try cleaning the contacts on the coolant level sensor.

i think i already cleaned that sensor. Its a metal like thing at the end of the dipstick i believe..if so i cleaned it..if not...tell me where it is

If you cleaned the gunk off the sensor, and there's not a bunch of gunk at the bottom of the reservoir, and you have the proper amount of coolant, and your light still comes on, the sensor is bad.

if this sensor is bad. what do i ask for and can i get it at Autozone..if so..whats the part #..and how much do you think it will cost?

Get rid of the clamp that is allowing the hose to come off.
