My SHO has been leaking coolant for about 6 months. It is a slow leak, and only leaks when the engine is hot. The problem is I don't know what is leaking. It seems to be coming from the center of the engine under the intake manifold somewhere. The exhaust smells and tastes really sweet, but there is only a small ammount of white smoke when revved really high. Also there are just drops of water coming from the tailpipe. The temp guage is staying right in the middle. I keep refilling the coolant so that I have an adequate ammount. I have not noticed any frothing under the radiator cap.
Any ideas on what my problem could be?

Yea most SHO's have some sort of coolant leak. My 91 had a constant leak for months untill it just got worse and worse. my advise to you would check the radiator first by seeing if any coolant is leaking onto the ground from the radiator ends. if not then most likely a problem with hose connection. Check the hose that enters the engine, right where the thermostat is located.

Is the leak from the driver side, or the passengers side?

Quite a few locations for coolant leaks to pop up. Just need more info to pinpoint it :thumb:

Not if the cooling system is properly maintained.

Im not aware of any coolant lines going under the intake manifold and on top of the block.

You need to visually identify where that leak is coming from.
You said it only leaks when hot? Get it hot, find a bright flashlight, and start hunting.

I think he might be talking about the cross-over tube that goes from the upper rad hose area, under the intake manifold and connects to the waterpump. The O-ring in there might be wearing out. My old mans' SHO is experiencing similair problems. If that is the case, you might as well replace the waterpump since you'd have to pull the one in there out to get it. Just a thought...good luck :thumb:

You don't have to take the water pump out to get to the cross over tube. You can pull the thermostat manifold and take it out from the other side.
