Earlier tonight while doing some checking on my SHO, I noticed the coolant was low. I dumped some antifreeze and water in it, and heard it dumping out almost as fast as I was dumping it in. It looks like it is coming out from under the car on the passenger side. It looks like there is some sort of cover around where the crank pulley comes out of the motor. It looks like the water is coming out from several places withing that proximity right at that cover.

What is that cover and is that even possible for it to leak there?? Is that the waterpump leaking and playing a trick on me? Is that a simply gasket change and how much of that side of the motor do I have to tear down? I assume about as much as a water pump change.

Is there a way to deflood the cylinders? with all my start attempts I am guessing that my cylinders are pretty full, and I was wondering if there was a way to "deflood" it.

Dave,

Sounds like you have at least two problems.

First, the fuel. Press and hold the pedal to the floor while cranking. This signals teh computer to shut off the injectors and will help clear a flooded engine. Of course, if an injector is leaking.....

Before deciding to pull the water pump, look at the lower radiator hose. You might get lucky, but I wouldn't plan on it.

It sounds like the water pump gasket, rear O-rings, or front seal has failed. You will need to remove everything down to the timing belt to get to the leak. Well, since the belt is already soaked, probably doesn't matter anymore...

With my luck... the water pump is toast. which belt do you mean is already soaked?? I wonder about one of the injectors... that would explain how all the fuel got dumped into the crankcase in the first place. frown
