Correction in the SHOw Classes: I meant to say:

Gen I, Gen II and GEN III, with stock and modified in all three generations.! Left the third I out of the V8 class and didn't mean to!

Kirk, keep us in mind. We may have about 3 cars from around here heading out. I may be sharing a trailer with Josh, so we may be heading out together.

What day are you guys looking to head out? It's about 1050 miles from here...that's a long day (but doable)
Mark, Josh, Kirk and others coming from NY, Ontario & NE areas, if you plan on coming straight across NY and through Ontario, let's plan on hooking up when you come into the US in Port Huron, MI. From there we can catch either 69 across to 94 (a more direct route) or we can cruise 94 across the state. Whichever is fine with me.

Just keep me posted on an approximate TOA and I'll be there to meet you.

I'm also expecting some info from this forum about the name/existence of the Service Plaza on the IN Turnpike around MM126. I don't want to pick the name for the one in the wroong direction (like last year) and have folks drive 12-15 miles out of their way!!
I finally made it over there to get a name. It's called Ernie Pyle Service Plaza and the food shops are Hardees, Fazolies and a little Ice Cream shop.

Yep, I "finally" found a website that told me it was the Ernie Pyle Service Plaza. Looks like it is in the vicinity of MM126.

I now have all I need, and will be getting the Caravan info together, and over to Don for the SHOclub website this week.

There are also some hotels in the area (near Angola just east of here) for folks doing a bunch of miles the day before.

It's about 320 miles from Ernie Pyle to the hotel, which is a nice distance for the drive on Monday.

Personally, I will be driving up to I-69 (I live a stone's throw from M24 Lapeer Road in Lake Orion) to get to the Ernie Pyle Plaza. I'll be leaving at 6:30 AM EDT to make it to the Ernie Pyle Plaza on the Indiana Tollroad by 9:00 AM Indiana Goofy Time (which is the equivalent of CDT....we gain an hour from EDT). I will be hitting I-69 at Exit 155 (Lapeer Road) at about 6:50 AM EDT.

Since Kirk and the crew are traveling down through Ohio, perhaps my best bet would be meet up with you over there. I'm a bit east of you (Chesterfield Twp. area) and I think shooting across 69 would be the shortest route. If you give me a gas station name or some place that we could meet up, I'll be there...no bells on, but with plenty of coffee in hand. wink (I'm getting very lazy since I got laid off my job)

Don Mallinson will be posting all of the particulars of the Midwest Caravan to the SHO Club site in the next few days, but the start will be at the Ernie Pyle Service Plaza near MM 126 on the Indiana Toll road at 9 AM CDT on Monday 7/14.

I will have window signs for anyone partcipating, but if you want a copy of the itinerary and/or a window sign that you can print, email me at [email protected] and I'll get them out to you.

Just so you know, the Ron Porter information has been posted to the SHOclub.com web site. go to the club web site:
SHOClub.com
and then click on SHO Conventions on the left, then click on Convention #11. Caravan information is a link on the top of that page.

Anyone coming from a different area that wants to have their info posted so they can "hook up" with others, send it to us at the link on that page. I won't read or post stuff from this forum since I don't make it here that often, and am now about to go postal as Jan and I get ready for the big event!

Well, something remotely positive has finally happened to me for this convention.

My 19" Centerlines were finally picked up today. I already have appropriate Yokohamas for them in my garage. Regular shipping won't get them here until late next week. That won't work. 2 day air won't get them here until Monday because they don't drop on Saturday. I'm leaving for Madison on Sunday afternoon. Overnight will cost me $491.00. I'm not doing that.

So first thing this morning I call the shop to have them 2nd day air to Madison. And for my protection(oh they're so thoughtful), they will not ship to anywhere BUT my credit card shipping address. They then have the audacity to give me an attitude when I ask them to hold the wheels for a couple of weeks until I get home.

So, I get to go in my Motoring Exponent 16X7.5" wheels. But guess what? They have half worn BFGoodrich R1s. 225/50 on top of that. So I get to drop an extra $600 for a new set of 225/55 Goodyear F1 GS D3s. They could get them to me by Saturday. But that will be pulling me away from serious obligations this weekend.

SO, I will be riding on the R1s through the night until I get to wherever Kirk's hotel room is. If it's Eastern Indaina, I can be there between 1-2AM. I will then get up and head down to South Bend to get my tires installed at the grand Tire Rack epicenter! They open at 8AM. The convoy meets in Eastern Indiana at 9AM? That should give me 2 hours to get my tires installed and meet the group? So does that work for you guys?????????????? headbang headbang headbang headbang :D

Yeah, we plan to leave the Service Center (near MM126) at 9 AM. The next "official" stop is at the Service Plaza at MM22 at about 10:30, and leave there at 10:45. Kurt Metros lives in South Bend, and he was either gonna try to catch us at MM77 for South Bend, or hit the MM22 Service Plaza. It sounds like if you got on the IN Tollroad at MM77 by about 10AM, you could hit the Plaza at MM22 before we leave.

If you really got hung up, you could just meet up with us for lunch in Naperville at Noon. My cell is 248-891-4760, but you may want to print off the Caravan info from the SHO Club site just in case.

Hmm funny I thought I was the only one that was thinking of making a stop at the TireRack epicenter there in IN. But I'm gonna buckle and let a local shop mount up my new ES100's before I leave. I can't justify driving around for the convention, with tires, in the back seat cause I'm without a hotel room.

Just a couple of notes:

To BigJimSHO. You commented that you didn't get into the convention track event at Ohio after supposedly I told you there would be no problem.

First, I had NOTHING to do with the organization of the track event and that convention in general. At that time, I was another person attending the convention and having a good time, my only real association was as a writer for the Registry. I seriously doubt that I ever told you that you could just show up and get in the track event.

Also Kirk,

I have driver forms from everyone but you.

Hope you enjoy your time in the Novice class because we can't classify you! :)

Everyone: Jan and I are about to shut down the lines of communication and have cut off last minute registrations, because at some point, we have to just start packing and quit making up forms, badges, paperwork.

We can still accept walk-ups with a little extra fee, but if you arrive at 10am Tuesday expecting to get in the SHOw, an hour after the judges started judging cars, you will NOT get in the SHOw! Had someone really mad about this last year, and I am sorry, but we have to get infomation to the judges the night before so they know what and how many cars they are judging. Since the basic info about this convention has been on the club website for almost a year, there is no excuse for showing up midway through the event and being mad because we can't accomodate every request. Things like banquet seats, drag race etc are easy to add, the Blackhawk Farms event requires a little more preparation like the driver/car info form.

Thanks to Ron Porter for helping organize and keep the lines of communication going on the caravans.

Everyone drive safe and arrive alive and ready to have some fun. Don't give your money to law enforcement along the way, if you signed up for the track events, you can get your need for excitement filled in a legal way that is a lot safer than blasting down the highway.

We will arrive Sunday afternoon about 4p0m and will hope to meet up with many of the other early arrivals at Stamm House (directions/info at:) Convention #11 information

For a great meal and some early SHO talk.

Our first taste of local food, beer, cheese.

See you there!

As the SHO god, Don, I referred to you without knowing for sure whether I talked to you or someone else. Whoever I talked to was in Georgia, I can't recall off the top of my head. I could look it up, but anyway, sorry about that.

Anyway, whoever it was told me that it SHOULD be no problem. Not that there was no chance. My whole thing about that post was that everyone should get all their eggs in 1 basket before attending if possible.

So Don, I hope you know that I didn't attend before you see this thread again. I hope you got my message. And again, thanks for keeping this club going, you da man! boink

I really was hoping to see the TireRack center personally. jpshakeh
