I didn't have a nifty name for a car tag, so I figured I'd post a new topic.

So, is there any plans yet to convoy? I've heard of some East Coasters but anyone else? And who has definite plans to go?

I'm sure there will be a few caravans organized for the convention. I'm going to try to get one together for western Canada.

Watch for updates over at www.shoclub.com They usually post planned caravans and contact information for the organizers.

I'll be setting up a Caravan for Monday morning from near the Ohio/Indiana border on the Turnpike, then meeting up with the SHOcago guys outside Chicago around lunchtime.

I've got the basics outlined, and Brad Hofvander with SHOcago will get a spot for us all to meet around lunch in the Naperville area.

Basics are that we will meet in eastern Indiana around 9-9:30 (Central Time), and should be at the hotel around 3-3:30 PM on Monday. I will get the details to Don to post on the SHO Club site once we nailk them down.

Anyone coming across that way is welcome to join.

I know that some of us in SHO-DAK are going and are trying to get one together in SD. If anybody from out west is coming this way, we would be sure glad to meet up with you guys.

Count me in on that. Are you going to be meeting around the Angola/Fremont exit of the Toll Road? That is basically in my back yard. thumb

I'm already planning on meeting up with whomever will be heading west via I90 in upstate NY. All someone has to do is tell me a time and what exit on I90 and I'm there.

Perhaps you can help me, as I was also going to ask Kurt Metros in South Bend about this.

I would like to meet at a Service Plaza if possible. One source I have says that there's a Service Plaza near Mile Marker 126, another source says it's an exit.

FWIW, I will be coming down I-69, then heading west on I-80/I-90, so the first rest area/Service Plaza west of he I-69 interchange would be the spot.

Ron,

Mile Marker 126 is a rest stop. Go to the link for a listing of all of the exits and rest stops on the IN Toll Road. The top is the IN/IL border and the bottom is the IN/OH border. 69 crosses at Exit 144 in Angola.

http://kurtmetros.com/tollroad/tollrd.html

FWIW, I'll be getting on at Exit 77.

Kurt

Yeah, as he said, MM 126 is a rest area. It's near a little town called Brighton. Last I was there it was a Popey's Chicken and a Dunkin Doughnuts. If you'd like, I can swing by there to find out what's there so you could let everyone know. I figure it'll be easier to spot the name of a restaurant than a mile marker sign.

Lemme know.

Kurt, per your website, MM126 is a pair of Service Plazas....the Gene Stratton Porter and the Ernie Pyle. I wonder which one is the Westbound? Some folks got a bit hosed last year when I picked what I "thought" was the Eastbound Plaza on the Ohio Turnpike, and it was the Westbound.......

Anywhere per my old Interstate Guide, it shows Plaza(s) in the "vicinity" of MM126, not right at it (they virtually never are).

If someone could scope it out, it would be appreciated.

I would like to start out at a Service Plaza, so one in that area would be great. I'll already have done 200 miles to get there and I'll need gas and "rest"!!

If we gas up there, it's only about 320 miles to the Hotel, so no more gas should be required. Lunch will be in the Naperville area for anyone who needs gas at that point.

Finally got back on the list, and noticed a new topic!

Jan and I plan on taking two SHO's (96 and the '89 in the big white trailer) and going up Sunday mid-day.

I may chicken out on taking the trailer, but Sunday will be our day for sure so we can set up and be ready to get registrations going early Monday.

If you plan on starting or helping organize a convention caravan, please let me know by contacting me at: mailto:[email protected][email protected]</a>

So I can put it on the web site. The SHOclub.com web site is the best place to keep up on what is going on with the convention and the club in general.

Jan and I look forward to seeing everyone again, and thanks to Ron Porter for helping organize at least part of the caravan package.

It's the annual SHO convention and people come from all over the USA and Canada to attend. This year it's in Madison, WI. Details are on www.shoclub.com, click on "National Convention" in the menu on the left.

Me and my friend (flosho) are probably gonna go. I only have one question. About what is the total cost on the whole convention? I dont plan on participating in the track race at Blackhawk Farms but i do plan on participating in the track drag's and if i dont stay in the hotel, I can still participate in all the events right? THanks

Kirk, keep us in mind. We may have about 3 cars from around here heading out. I may be sharing a trailer with Josh, so we may be heading out together.

What day are you guys looking to head out? It's about 1050 miles from here...that's a long day (but doable)
