Long story short, I had an EB f150 with a tune that was a blast. Snagged a Rubicon and i've been really enjoying it as well... but it's a terrible family vehicle and I miss the speed and economy of my f150 (I get 13-14mpg in the rubi ha). So enter the 4 Dr Taurus SHO. Local dealer has a 2014 PP with under 50k miles for about $25K. Seems like a reasonable deal. Any advice on what to look for etc?

Look at the Ford Taurus SHO Owners Club on Facebook. There is a guy selling a low mileage, tuned 2014 PP for a steal. I don't remember where he's located, but I think he has a picture of him getting married and posing with the car :) It's black, btw.

I don't know where either of you are located, but I've done a couple of fly out, drive back deals in the past. I've also had cars shipped to me. What I've never done is purchase a daily-driver sight unseen. That car looks like a **** of a deal to me, though.

Maintenance records are key! Just make sure the vehicle has been taken care of, if it has been the 50K is nothing to that car.
Best of luck with the purchase!

Same basically, but with some internals not as strong and smaller turbos. So if you take care of your SHO, it will take care of you.

weird. it seems like some of the #'s i'm hearing are higher than folks were able to get out of their truck motor. although tune only i was able to snag a high 13 in my SCREW 2wd. never dyno'd it though

What are the numbers for the truck motor? Tune only, you can break into the 12s with the SHO (unless you are at higher elevations such as Denver).

To answer your question - there's nothing "to look for," in these cars! As someone mentioned earlier, maintenance records are vital! My 2014 SHO PP has about 25,000 miles and not one issue!!!! Love the car and the LMS tune I installed around 1,000 miles and no issues ever.
