I'm thinking of getting one of these to use as a daily driver to replace my 89. I'm hoping some of the experts out there can give me ideas on what to look for when I go to look at these cars. I'm also looking for information on things I should do immediately after purchasing the car. I read the articles at v8sho.com and have done some searching here in the forum as well but there is so much information I'm not sure I'm searching for the right things. This is what I have found so far. Please let me know if anything is incorrect.

When shopping:
  • Future cam failure symptoms (clicking noise @ idle)
  • Rough shifting transmission
After purchase:
  • ATX transmission fluid flush and filter, auxiliary cooler?
  • PS flush
  • Oil and filter change
Also, I'm going to assume that I'll be buying the car from a dealer so their probably won't be too much historical information on the car. So I'm wondering how hard/long it would take to remove the valve cover to see if the cams have been welded or pinned?

Thanks!

Erik

the front one you can remove within a few minutes, the rear one will take an hour or so cuz you gotta get the surge tank out of the way and rest of the UIM off.
