After riding with speedfreek95 in his gen2 with a cone filter, I have decided that I want a cone. His secondaries sound amazing, and I want mine to sound that way, too. I have removed the silencer cone, and all that is in the fenderwell is a 2-3 inch piece of pipe that leads straight into the airbox. My question is, do I put a cone in the fenderwell, or do I remove the airbox and replace it with a cone?

I did the same as Paul did but it is FAR easier and a bit cheaper to do just the cone. Just the cone draws in more heat but the "in fender" version is not a good choice if you live in an especially wet place. Make you choice based on that.

Not to get off-subject, but shouldn't you worry about how the secondaries sound AFTER you get the motor problem fixed? Just curious here.... shrug

I live in a wet climate. As long as you baffle the fender well there is no problem. A cone in the engine compartment is a step backward unless a good sound is your only goal.

Yes, the motor will be fixed, but I see no harm in thinking into the future. Right now the motor is out of my hands. As soon as the adjuster gets out to look at the engine, we are gold. I think I will be getting the SHO back before the end of the month.
The reason I posted this was because I had never heard what the secondaries COULD sound like. After hearing them, I realized that I HAD to have that sound.

Can you post instructions on how to do that?
I really do like your setup. I just need some direction. What do you mean by baffle?
To accomidate that 4 inch hose, did you enlarge the hole between the engine bay and the fender?

If you go to the link in my previous post there are pictures. Not much to it just a couple of pieces of plastic sheeting.

Paul,
Where did you score the MAF adapter? What are the specs on it?

Mine came from the SHO Shop. You can get one at http://www.duratecperformance.com/ or any Mustang site that deals in MAFs. It is for an 80 mm MAF that uses a 4" duct.

Some friends and i saw this done and thought it would be a good idea to do to my car and that is take out one of the parking lights and replace it with tubing so that you can have a short ram air induction on the sho. What are anyones thoughts on that??

No such thing as ram air at speeds under 300 mph. Beware of direct connections between a tube before the filter. This will act as a collector and funnel for debris and water.

Paul is correct. No ram air happens at speeds these cars can obtain. There is a topic and post about this with more details around here somewhere from fairly recently. In fact, trying to force air in could actually decrease air flow, depending on a number of other factors. Go with some form of getting the intake into cool, still air, for your best results.
