Ok we did the compression test and basically all 6 cylinders, were between 175 and 195. However he said on the 6th stroke, they were all over 200, so what does that mean, how come u go by the 5th stroke and not the 6th, and does the compression get higher the more strokes? Just looking for some answers.

My 165000 mile engine compressed 240# on the low cyl. & 255 on the high. This test was done with all plugs removed, warm engine, open throttle, this engine burned oil at the rings at a rate of 1 quart per fuel tankful. Rings get carboned & the oil scraper gets stuck. This engine still made 200hp on the dyno.

IMHO cranking compression means very little by itself. At best, it gives you a starting place to track down problems that may be ring or valve related. A leak down test tells you more and will pin point a specific problem. (which valve is leaking, or if air is going into the crank case.) Neither test will tell you much about oil control. Compression tests depend on too many variables to be really accurate.

You can crank all you want but it will top out around the fourth crank I believe it was
