Coilovers

I've never really heard of any coilovers for the SHO except the Tokiko or Koni (whatever they are) ones but I found these when I was cruising the web earlier.

dang! Those are the same ones I bought from Mike at MidwestSHO for $599! These guys only want $385 for them. Makes me mad spending more money than I have to. They look very hight quality. I'm installing mine late next week on some Koni's. Here is a good picture of them.

that's actually the cheapest I've seen. Ground control themselves sells them for $419 plus shipping so the $398.05 is really nice!

My buddy told me that a local part shop sells the Ground Control kits with Eibach springs for about $250 here.

Our kits are modified. The Ground control kits have problems "out of the box" that prevent them from being used on many different style struts.

Well in that case you should be happy there are alternatives.

We're in the business of making parts for the Taurus SHO. Part of doing that requires us to do the R&D to see what works and what doesn't. If you order a set of struts and the coilover kit directly from Ground Control make sure you have a cutoff wheel and a welder on hand. You'll need them.

Did I also mention that this isn't a charity? I actually am in business to make money.

No kidding? You know what gets me? It seems that people these days want quality products but yet they don't want to pay diddly-squat for them. And what's worse is that the products that are coming out these days are cheaper than they ever were in the past, yet people still find room to complain. Meh, you get what you pay for. If you pay $100 for a set of struts, you got yourself just that, a $100 set of struts that you'll pay to replace again in a year.

And sure, you can find someone to copy-cat another's idea and turn around and sell it as their own for $10 cheaper than the person who originally came out with it. Consider how much of a profit the copy-cats are pocketing when they offer a copied product up for sale when they don't have the R&D to cover up front.

After R&D most sellers don't make a red cent until "X" amount of products are sold. R&D costs money people, and lots of it. Mike doesn't make a whole helluvalot to begin with, yet he turns around and sinks much of that "profit" into bringing more innovative products into the community. It's a small community with small demands. That makes custom parts cost more.

*** for tat guys. Mike is tried and true and has stuck it out trying to bring more products to our community. One of these days people are just going to quit trying to bring cool new products into our grasp and THAT.....will be a sad sad day in SHOland.

Yes but oh boy is it a pain in the posterior. I assembled a set for a customer about a year ago and did not anticipate Tokico's recent change to cartridges. There is a lip at the top of the strut that needs to be ground down. They'll work but it's not fun to get them to work.

As for the rest, please don't pity me. I love what I do and even though I have no time to do it it's still a blast. People just have to understand that I'm not one of the guys that has a day job and does this on the side. My business' are my livelyhood. Most of these small guys don't have tax ID numbers (let alone pay taxes), don't pay people to answer emails, don't put their money on the line to make new products. More or less, they don't have the overhead that we do or that FPS does, Performance Plus, gasp, even SHO Shop. And if they don't sell something for a week they have their day job to pay the bills. So it's easier for some other people to offer a product with little margin because it's just extra money for them. For me, it's the difference between eating at Taco Bell and, well... not eating!

Look for some changes soon, hopefully for the better. I don't have a lot of time to devote to new products but hopefully there is an entrapaneur out there that does...

I don't know if there was some missed sarcasm up there, or if this whole thread somehow took a turn the authors did not intend.
But, you all can spend your money where you want. I am sure many in the community will agree that my money will go to folks like Mike. As busy as he is, he still found the time to answer each of my emails, as silly as they may have been, within an hour when I had questions. Oh, did I mention I also received my parts on time, as promised, and everything fit exactly as it should have.
It's hard to find a company that cares about its' customers these days. I am sure Mike won't mind you going to another company for your parts... but when sh*t don't fit right, doesn't answer their email when you have a question, or doesn't come with the all the parts you expected, you will understand why one might shop at MWS, regardless of the price. I certainly am not made of money, and am very picky about where I spend my hard earned cash, but find me another business the is as customer centric as MWS with the knowledge, integrity, and desire to please his customers.
My money will continue to go to Mikes Taco Bell fund.
