I recently had my car in the a dealership's shop and i was informed that a coil was about half-way bad (fires most of the time.. just misses around idle). My CEL just came on, could a bad coil be the cause of this, or should i be looking for something else? And before you say it, yes, i'll go have my codes read tommorow.. :)

Thanks in advance
Mike

A bad coil could definitely be a cause for that as could many other things. I just replaced my IMRC (and got rid of a MIL) and got another one yesterday- had it read: Bank 1 too Rich and Bank 2 too Rich. I've got to track down the cause (if you get the code, this page at V8SHO.com may be able to help you track down a problem.
Good luck!

A miss at idle is most likely a bad coil. Luckily you've got a check engine light so the car can tell you which one it is. Usually, the hardest part is diagnosing which one is bad.

Don't buy the coil from the dealer. You can get the exact same coil from Napa. And if it's a rear coil you might as well replace all 4 rear coils as the others aren't far behind and this will save you the labour of having to pay for it 3 more times.

Napa should be able to get the coils for $75 if you get the trade price. Insist on the trade price if you're getting 4 of them.
