ok guys....i give up...2 hours with a screw driver and now I'm ******. I have a 93 atx that developed a ticking noise on the drivers side of the engine and it sounds like its in the top of the engine under the front v-cover. I also get a diesel noise when the engine is cold. I bought the rod bearings and were prepared to change them...but...upon my investigation with a flathead screwdriver, I found a knocking noise that comes from under the valve cover over the cam chain on the front bank. i can't tell if it matches the ticking. but what i did find was that the noise is loudest by placing the driver on the coil pack. Is this because the coil is bolted to the head by the chain? PLEASE HELP!!!....what is it and how much....u guys r a life saver...

thanks,

Jon

i know there has been a post in the past month or so about the diesel noise. if youre saying its over your cam chain them maybe your chain is *****, but i wouldnt be able to say with complete certainty. hopefully someone else can help out. by the way, what do you think of those 3.0 cams? im debating on getting a set, ive been finding mixed reviews.

the cams are ok but i really don't have enough mods to realize a severe power difference. I had to change the cams due to damage on the stock 3.2 cams...(both of my exhaust cams were wasted..) the secondaries open with avengence but aside from that not much difference...if anyone else can help out with my noise that would be great...thanks for the post...

An ATX is SUPPOSED to sputter at 4K RPM when you rev the engine in PARK. Otherwise, you'll fry the torque converter.

Good luck with whatever car you end up with.

I'd get that front valve cover off of there ASAP. I have a feeling it isn't going to be pretty in there. 3.2 heads are fairly cheap and readily available from all these 3.2 swaps. Swapping the whole head is relatively straight forward. BTW; who replaced your exhaust cams? How long ago?
