well i got p0300 and p0307

i know what the codes are for but i know coil #7 was sparking when i changed it out i use this spark tester thing that i put between the coil and the plug and it shown spark.

now i got the p0307 code about a week ago and changed the coil out with a known good coil and change it with a newer coil that was up front. and the code has returned. so i assume i have a short somewhere....thats gonna be fun

now my question is, is the p0300 really mean i have other coils missing also or does this just pop up when a coil is missing for to long. (ps didnt have that code at the last time..)

thanks for any help givin

In my experience, the p0300 code may or may not be related to the coils - it can be any reason that might cause a random miss - are you buying decent gas?

Your miss doesn't have to be a coil...

It could be compression..

Or fuel delivery (injector).

Coils are always the first suspect due to how commonly they are a problem, but there can be other sources of the problem.

so i guess i should do a compresson test? i can feel the miss come and go from how much power the motor feels to make, and feels like its down a cylinder sometimes?

this is a nos short block but it was mated to heads that were rebuilt and had 4k on them with used head gaskets.

maybe im starting to get an issue with this after 16k miles

As easy as it is to access cylinders 7 and 8 I'd compare them with a quick compression check. It hopefully rules that out which would be good news.

IIRC you'll need to use a 14mm "long reach" fitting on the compression tester. The standard 14mm fitting is too short to attach securely.
