car: 1989 SHO 71K miles front engine maintenance recently done with new cps, cid sensors, new Cardone water pump, new crank and camshaft seals. Intermittent highway short stalls leading to replacement of fuel pump for a Walbro 190lph. Problem persists leading to replacement of the DIS. Fixed the low radiator coolant level indicator light.

Took the car for a 10 mile ride and everything seemed normal. Two days later went to Home Depot, 3 mile city drive and on the way back, the motor had brief stalls with rpm dropping 500rpm for a second a couple of times.

Next day, took the KOEO codes and cleared them by removing and reconnecting the paper clip and took the codes immediately after and had code 59 twice even though I had not started the motor followed by code 11.

Took the car for a 30 mile ride on the highway ranging speed between 50 and 80 mph without any symptom. Stopped the motor for an hour in the middle of ride. Got thru the rest of the ride without problem. Took the KOEO codes after and had 59, 59, 12, 95, 92.

Each time I clear the codes, the car seems to run better but the same problem (intermittent stalls) eventually returns. The codes seems to indicate fuel pump circuit problems: 59 = low speed fuel pump circuit failure and 95 = fuel pump secondary circuit failure. The fuel pump has less than 100 miles on it. From my search, I gather the problem would seem to be located within the IRCM (Inter Relay Control Module) located near the radiator top, underneath the plastic shelf. It seems like a sealed unit with no serviceable parts. I used electrical contact cleaner on each ends of the huge connector but it did not correct the problem. Am I safe in thinking changing this IRCM will finally solve my problem? Any advice in buying the IRCM? I'll try to take my fuel pressure tomorrow. I never have problems starting the motor nor have problems accelerating wether in 1st or 5th gear which leads me to think the problem lies in the electrical control of the fuel pump but is intermittent.

I am getting desperate in getting my SHO running as it should!
