90' was running pretty well. Now it misses alot at idle but when I rev it up it dosnt miss. I did the code thing but it only says code 45 out the normal codes. Code 45 says coil 1. I cant find any other info on it online. Should I replace the old coil? I've been wanting too.
Ignition module was replaced and iac. Along with wire and plugs.
When driving around my lot it struggles to get about 3k rpm in first gear

90 sho. Its one coil. Has codes for coil 1,2,3 but throws the coil 1 code. Probably means that part of coil is acting up.

I wish it were coil on plug, easy to narrow down cylinder issues.

I'll start it back up tonite. Hopefully it was just because it got hot for the first time in 15 years. I plan on ordering the accel coil from Shosource.

Shosource is a great site. I've ordered more than a few things from them and always had fast shipping from across the country. Had shipping issues with the brakelines from who makes them because of covid but Mike always stayed in contact with me. I hope to order more and more from them soon.

Nevermind about the accel coil. I've read enough on here about how they are garbage. Ill replace it with a stock coil or best I can find.

I thought was a cheap replacement coil. Pulled it off and it's a motorcraft that looks old. Replaced it, not sure if it fixed the issue yet.

No codes now. Had to put in the right maf sensor for the bigger maf.
It is supposed to thump like a nascar?. Again I was told it was bored over to 3.2l and alot of enginr work done to it. Was a cam job common?
I have a video ill put on youtube I guess.
Sounds loud in person @SM105K

Sure sounds like a lopey cam. Does it have an eprom chip? Do you know who had it and modified it? All the regular overbored stuff sounded sorta normal. There was a few handful of different cam prifiles around. I assume most of those cars are garage every blue moon cars, or mostly gone.

You'd think that the intake runner coupler and wire color scheme would be easy to find on the interwebs. They definitely make me think I remember seeing that car. Just not the specifics of it.

Oh the car didn't "look" like that when I bought it. It is chipped for rpm and maf i guess. Crank pulley is like the smallest pulley haha, i found the original in the trunk. The one installed isn't a nice one you see now a days either. Its black like stock but just small. Ill see if I can find the picture of when I bought the car in winter. It was pretty rough, owner couldn't remember what he had done but he remembers paying over 10k. It also sat for over 10 years and has like 140k miles. Bought it from original owner also. I bought the car from a member on here. He said he only joined to sell the car, work was done in the 90s or early 00s.
Yea i have the type of brain that is all over the place.
I had a thread about it when I bought it, more info on there. Maybe the story is a little better also as it was written when it all happened instead of my skewed memory now haha.
All guy really told me is he spent over 10k in upgrades. Raised rpm limiter over 8k(when i rev it, it goes well past 8), had engine bored over to 3.2l and alot of other stuff he couldn't remember but I find things all the time on it that aint stock.

You could always mic the cam lobes and check. Do I have the profiles memorized? No, but I think it is out there. If it can't be located easily, Josh at SHOnut would have them I bet.

I've got "stage II" cams and it has the lopey idle. Still passes smog just fine. Probably feels even rougher because it has reinforced motor mounts.

Driving it into my polebuilding today right after starting it. It seems it needs to run a bit, when you go to drive cold it kicks up the rpm to 2k and feels like cruise control. Probably not to dailyable. Just need to let i warm up i guess. But it chops the whole time. Building exhaust on it today, got nascar Dr gas boomtubes. Gunna try to hide them under the far back sides by the rear tires. It should look decent.

for what its worth, in my experience a code for just one of the coils has more likely really been a DIS problem than a coil pack problem, on the cars that I have owned or worked on.

Changed coil to a new one and installed another maf sensor I had and all the codes went away. I dont get any codes now. Im surprised the original icm works still.
If the code pops up again ill change out the original icm, hard to find a new motorcraft one though.
