Hey there... It's clutch replacement time.... you know what it's doing....shakin'...shimmin'' slippin' ok you get the picture. So what are your thoughts on clutch materials/manufactors? My ride has only slight mods done on it, but I do love to rev it to 8 grand on the freeway ramps. UDP and a chip makes it safe to do so. I heard that ceramic should be avoided for everyday style driving. Any experiences with the kevlar discs? Thanks & cruise on.

South Bend clutches have a good rep from thoise I have talked to; I'd personally avoid the Kevlar one, as one person on here had the Kevlar lining seperate from the disc and clutch jobs are no picnic.

I know some people have also had bad experiences with the SPEC clutches, but I love my Spec Stage II married to a Fidanza aluminum flywheel. If you do use a Fidanza, make sure the pressure plate seats flush to the flywheel. Their dowel pins are a fuz too long and could cause premature clutch failure. Clutch jobs are also a good time to do the rear main seal, sway bar bushings, and rod bearings, if they haven't been done yet. The pan gasket is easier to get on right with the tranny removed.

Best of luck.

I have a dual diphram centerforce clutch married to a fidanza with no problems. I drive it daily and has lots of extras. Dam good clutch with the only one I've had with no chatter at all. Been through 2 race clutches already. Just take a look at it might be to your advantage.
