I've begun work on the clutch replacement. Construction of the engine support based on Scott's plans went well. Instead of using 2x4s in the rear support, I used 2x6s and made the cuts deeper and at at the 85 degree angle. It's not pretty like Scott's, but it looks to be fine.
I am not comfortable with the bracket I found for the rear support(couldn't find one like Scott used), so I will probably use chain all the way down to the lower lifting hole. As far as the upper holes go, the left bolt is just about impossible to remove(can't get a wrench on it). It holds the wire bracket and metal tube. The upper right hole was radically cross-threaded by the clowns (professionals my ass) who did previous clutch work. The bolt goes in about one third of the way at quite an angle. I imagine I will find more things along the way which will make me angry.
While removing the y-pipe, one of the manifold studs unscrewed in one piece. All of the studs are bent to a degree, something I noticed when installing the PP y-pipe a few months ago. Score another accomplishment for the "professionals".
So should I replace all of the studs? Is this something that can be done outside of a shop?
More to come I'm sure...
