everyone,
i was out today in my 89' sho and noticed when i depressed the clutch pedal to the floor, i could feel the pedel viberating. It was only slight, and there was also a slight rubbing noise. It seems to be pulsing slightly. I know the clutch isnt dragging, since the rpm doesnt drop when i let off the clutch pedal. The car shifts fine, and drives fine. Its always shifted high.... do you think the clutch is finally going? It feels like i have about 1 3/4 to two" left when i let off the clutch. It doesnt seem to be slipping though. Any suggestions would be helpful.

thanks,
silas

Thanks for the link. But my pedal doesnt really viberate until its pushed fully to the floor. Do you think the cable may be bad?

Could be the beginnings of pressure plate problems also. I felt a vibration in mine when it started to go.

Easier for me to show you in pics than explain it.

In this pic you'll see the pressure plate. It has fingers on it. When they start to get worn or are broken as mine were, the integrity of the plate is compromised. The shaft goes in the center hole and the fingers are much closer together when torqued down. If the hole is compromised, then there is room for movement which can cause vibration and troubles in shifting. Wear items inside the bell housing will also cause the car not to shift as smoothly. That I don't have a pic of, but if I find one I'll post it. But the TOB also plays a very integral part of shifting, but I don't know if it would cause a vibration or not. I'd say it would be more in shifting than vibration though although mine was also toast as you can see in the pic. The bearings were there except 1 and the race was completely eaten away.

Here's a close up of the old TOB...very toasty.

This is a shot of the new ceramic TOB installed.

And this is a good pic of the bell housing with the TOB installed with the wear items I was talking about. Just a piece of pvc, but it makes shifting very smooth.

Very important tool in the background in the last pic...a hammer. :D

When my clutch finally stopped working, I had about half of the fingers broken. I pushed the pedal in to start it and heard a loud BOOM. I thought to myself "This isn't good". That was about 3 weeks after I bought the car (11/98).
