Last night I found myself trying to limp the car home without a 100% functioning clutch.

What the car is doing... Start car.. try and select a gear, but nothing. However, I can start the car with it in gear and the clutch pressed and it will not move while I crank the car(it will move slightly, **** if you will, but it will not roll), and the car will move as soon as I start to let the clutch out. However, it releases very low... MUCH lower then stock.
IIRC, the last time my clutch went out (or the TOB went out) if I started the car while in gear and the clutch pressed it would still roll. And yes, I do know the damage that can be done by doing this, I had no other choice.

So does this sound like a clutch problem(disc/PP), TOB, or clutch cable problem?

Also, this clutch has been acting up since I put it in a few months back. Slight grinding between gear changes, and slow gear changes as well. It would only do it on occasion and not every shift.

Before going in the heavy stuff (tranny/TOB/clutch) let me ask this , did you or can you perform a cable adjustment with the quadrant (you know the pull the pedal towards you etc) ?

only thing I will say is check the self adjuster and make sure not teeth are broken off and that it is working properly, then replace the clutch cable itself if that adjuster checks out...

Since you have only had the clutch in for a few months, I wouldn't think it would be going out already...it sounds like its not disengaging all the way from what you have said, which makes me believe other problems...

and even if it is the clutch, at least you will know the cable is new and that the adjuster is working if it is neither of them.

I know the quadrent is working properly as it was recently put in. And I swapped out the clutch cable from my parts car just for grins (and alot of bad words)... Same problem.

I am very frustrated with the car at this point... so just a heads up, there may be a classified ad soon for some parts.

Josh and I just got back from a thorough flogging. Not a TOB after all. Debris (pad material?????) caught in the pressure plate. Worlds first clutch job performed with the engine running. Revved the engine to about 4 grand in neutral, while pumping the pedal several dozen times. Problem solved. :)

PS: It has been rumored that hard launches can be particularly harsh on the very compact SHO clutch.:burnout:

Dont know where you are getting your info from, but I wouldn't trust it..... :)

Talk about interesting... Anyhoo, looks like the classified ad may not be up for awhile now.
