The POS clutch I bought less that 10k miles ago from Southbend Clutch (The TZ series Kevlar one) has finally bitten the dust... So over the winter I will be replacing it with something better. I was thinking of going with the fibertuff clutch from shonut.

Anyways, on to the question:

- I have a Fidanza 9lb (old style, before the revision)... How neccesary is it to have the insert changed?

- Can I change the insert myself, or must it be done by the Fidanza Co.?

- How is their turnaround time? Has anyone had the experience of sending them a flywheel to have a new insert put in?

I think that about covers it... Thanks for your input!

I put a shonut fibertuff clutch in a 93 sho with the fidanza flywheel. We got a new insert and new screws from fidanza. There are a bunch of small screws and nuts that need to be torqued down right, that hold the insert to the flywheel. And we also had the older version of that flywheel. It will take a lot longer than a stock clutch to break in. And it will take some time to get used to at first.

It only takes a few days if you order a new insert from Fidanza. You can replace it yourself, normally it is installed with just screws and nuts, if your original one is riveted you just have to drill out the rivets. They will ship new screws with the insert. If your flywheel is really old, it might be the 20 bolt (vs. the newer 18 bolt style). Just let them know which when you have them on the phone. They were very helpful when I spoke with them.
