I've had my car now a few weeks, said to have a new Mc Leod clutch. I have a hard time "feathering" the clutch from a standing start to not get a pronounced slip or give from something in the front end or wheel hop (not sure exactly what it is) at the very end of the pedal release. The tranny shifts and drives fine in all gears otherwise with clutch feel as expected. When on a flat or a slight downhill I can let the clutch out without giving gas and its smooth (without the slip). Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if I understand this correctly. Is this what you mean- when you let out the clutch from a dead stop, you get either slippage of the clutch, or wheel hop from letting it out too fast?

Wheel hop would suggest (a) broken or worn motor mount(s). The clutch slippage, I'm not too sure. Only thing I can think of, is that you are afraid(for lack of a better word) of letting the clutch out too fast, so you don't get the wheel hop. Usually wheel hop will be induced by "popping" the clutch. Thats maybe where the clutch slippage comes into play.

It may be wheel hop due to a grabby clutch, but I'm wondering if it could be a worn differential, CV joint or motor mounts. I'm letting the clutch out slow and steadily, not popping it. I have noticed that it does not happen when the car is cold, when I first start out, but gets worse as it get warm after driving a while. I've not driven a front wheel drive manual transmission before, only many RWD and have not had this experiece before. Not sure how to diagnose...
