the 89 has been doing this since i bought it a few months back. About 10K miles ago (previous owner) the tranny was completly re-built and a new clutch was put in. Most likly just an OEM clutch, but i dont know the specifics so i cant be sure. It grips extremly well, thats not the problem. Happens when im starting from a dead stop virtually every time. I will try and do a normal engagment at 1500 -2000 rpm. The slower i let the clutch out the more chatter i get. Its rough. I can hear the cat-back shake when it happens. The only way to solve it is to rev up to 3K-4K and slowly let it out. Still some chatter but nowhere near as bad. It also chatters when im trying to match rpms just using clutch. The other two SHOs do not have any chatter, so i dont think its normal.

What do you think this could be? Possible solutions?

I believe that NotSoSlowSHO is right on the mark. That was not a well-done clutch job.

Don't feel bad... I have exactly the same problem with my car and I know the clutch job was done right. I'm still working on finding my problem... I'll let you know what I find, if I ever do find it.

sorry i should of included front motor mount is shot. I chained it down pretty good, there is not much engine movement. The engine used to be really floppy. Even with it chained down (sorry guys) the chatter is still here. I will be getting a new motor mount soon anyway...we'll see if that solves my problem
