First off, I searched many keywords (clutch adjustment, quadrant, cable, etc....)

Now the question; I recently had a CMIII, 17 lb. billet flywheel, ceramic TOB, and quaifed Transaxle installed in my supercharged '91. My problem is that the clutch seems to grab really late in the travel of the clutch pedal. ie. as I release the clutch pedal, the clutch grabs in the last 1/4 of the pedal travel.

My '89 catches in the first 1/4, and the '91 also used to catch there. I am concerned that the clutch many not be engaging all the way with how late it is engaging. I tried the manual adjustment by pushing the clutch in, then pulling up on it, but that hasn't done anything. I could use some advice here. Thanks in advance,

Jessey

A new quadrant kit and cable is rather inexpensive compared to what you have installed. I would recommend replacing both with the extra pressure the CM3 puts on the two.

There's aftermarket cables out there. I got mine from AutoZone for about $20 USD.

As for the Quad/Pawl Kit, there's some floating around a couple dealerships and SHOSource carries them as well. Not too many of these left, the part number is E7FZ.7L583.A and Ford List Price is $56.90 for the kit.

from SHOSOURCE's site: "If your clutch adjuster is no longer working, you may not get the clutch to fully disengage (even with a new clutch)".

My car has the opposite problem to this. The clutch is disengaging fine. I am worried it is not engaging enough when I release the clutch. As I said before, it is grabbing late.

Can the adjuster be broken, and my symptoms occur?
I am still stumped here. I don't mind buying the new stuff, but it seems like the quad/adj. is still working if the clutch is disengaging completely.

I had this problem on that car after I installed the quaifed transmission the first time. I had to adjust it like 20 or so times. But like TYSHO said, I would probably replace the cable and quadrant too (I just did these in my 94). Do you still have the old clutch and PP by any chance?

They are going to get rid of that quadrant? I thought that was used on mustangs, and some other 5 speed Fords. I been wondering about the cable on mine as well. Basically because it hasn't adjusted in a while, and feels like it should.

And... when adjusting it.. your supposed to pull it up first, then step on it while its in first gear, and off. Mine won't click until I push the pedal nearly thru the floorboard, then it'll click and adjust. Just quit doing it not too long ago.
