Guys,
Last time Tom had a get together at his place, I was trying to track down and solve a clunk that I was getting at the back of the SHO. Tom rode in the back and said that it sounded like it was coming from the top right rear of the SHO, somewhere behind the parcel/package shelf.
Well I posted those details to the Gen3 mailing list and got this response...
From: D. Manke
I had the same clunk in the trunk on the right side. It turned out a broken
strut mount. The shaft assembly broke at the top mount and was banging
against the bottom of the package tray. It was not apparent while just
looking in the wheel well from the outside. I found it by removing the rear
seat back and lifting the cover. The easiest way to know is if the little
black plug above the strut is popped out or the tray is dented. The other
way to tell is to bounce the car up and down to see of the shaft pokes thru
the hole. I just replaced the whole assembly by getting one off eBay. The
mount only was available at AZ for $28 IIRC.
Now I kinda follow along on whats going on, but where it says the easiest way to know I get lost. Do I need to remove the rear seat to check, or not?
Will try and look at this, this weekend.
Thanks,
Rav.
