Is there an easy way to go about replacing the EATC Climate Control Unit? The buttons on my 95's EATC are all broke, and I plan on buying the newer hard-style button unit in the near future. Also, are there compatability issues if say I buy one that came out of a Mark VIII?

You'll have to remve the lower panel under the steering wheels via four torx-head bolts. Next you'll have to remove two bolts under that and the two above the gauges. From there, you pull the dash bezel out while disconnecting switches and such. You can take the head light switch off prior by pulling the **** off and taking off the nut.

There will be four bolts holding in the EATC, two electrical connectors in the rear, and one vacuum connection being held on by two nuts, IIRC. It is a straight forwars swap once you get everything apart.

The EATC from the MARK 8 is not a direct replacement. I go to the junk yards often and occasionally run into an EATC.

you can however put the face from the mark VIII onto the guts of your old EATC. Just put the guts from your existing EATC into the mark VIII case, and solder the mark VIII face onto the old guts.

I got the one with the big bubble buttons, is that a mark ? what specifically do I have to solder, schematic?

I think I'll do it when I put in my head unit (ugh, I got to run 4 RCA's to the back to start with, then like 8 to 12 wires for speakers back up, and then ground and power wire back)

I don't even have my speakers yet! or an amp for some of them.... have to make fiberglass kick panels, re-locate the emergency brake (or remove?).

yeah, some other lincolns had the 'round' style EATC as well, the one I got is from a 98 Mark VIII it has the correct blue backlighting for my second gen SHO and also has the "vent" button instead of the "A/C" button that many lincoln units have. once you pop the face off there is two ribbon cables with the same number of wires, just solder them where the old ones were, and delete the light wire, since its intergrated into the lincoln unit. once you have the face's off both you'll see what I mean

I also have a newer Lincioln one.. However, the ribbon connector inside isnt the same as just resoldering it to a different face. From what i recall of the write-up (somewhere on here), a few of the wires needed to be swapped around..

60Kmaintanance, If you have premium sound of any type, you SHOULD be able to run an amp off of the "out" plug on the amp that is currently in thwe trunk. Itd save you running those 4 wires back up to the head unit... I could be wrong though.

I have a working 94 unit with bad buttons and a 95 hard button units with blown display. How do you match the new head on the 94 body?

I need the 4 RCA's any how, the two that currently run back there, I might be able to use, but I still need more... I dunno how good the stock wires are either.
