So this post popped up around the time I've been doing some searching for my Mom's car (2016 SEL). Not a SHO obviously but fairly similar. She has the little radio and currently BT stopped working and her backup camera is garbage (sometimes upside down but normally doesn't work at all). She's had it looked at by a couple companies that quoted $1,100+ to fix it but they can't get the parts. I bought a used radio from eBay and installed it, but it has the same issues. So, now we're looking to aftermarket....
This was the first one I found and liked -
Ford Taurus 2013 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019

But ultimately, I think this is the one we'll end up going with because of the cool factor, newer Android, better processor -
Explore our latest Tesla Style Android Radios for Ford Taurus. Unique vertical screen, Android system, bluetooth handsfree calling & music, video playback and thousands of apps waiting for you to explore. Stock steering wheel heating and ambient light control are not retained if equipped...

The bugs seem to be the same for both. Radio / AC doesn't work with remote start (must be physically cranked), factory backup camera doesn't work (hers doesn't anyway), steering wheel heat and ambient light control don't work with the Tesla (neither is equiped on hers), and a few others that she doesn't have.
The price for all the parts is less than she would have paid a company to do it, and I'll get some experience to see if I think it can be adapted for my '12 SHO. Surely someone sells some modules that would enable heated seats, plug and play for the factory backup camera, and ability to connect to the factory amp / 12 speakers.
So again, not exactly SHO related, but I'm going to try it on hers to start and may try it on my SHO if it works out well. If anyone knows of an aftermarket camera that works with the Tesla/Rhino stereo that could potentially replace the factory camera (same location/look), please share. I'm going to do some more research and probably pull the trigger in the near future. I'll document the install for future reference and to help others.
This video relates to the first link (Carnaviplayer) and the guy is installing in a Police Interceptor. I assume the Tesla will be a pretty similar install (remove the old, plug in the new).
Also, going to leave this link here as I may need it for something in the near future.
