Just started this morning, as I was on my way to work I noticed that the fan was blowing on high and I looked at the ecc and it was set to off? I hit the auto button and the fan went back to normal but when I shut it off it goes right back to high speed fan. Any suggestions???

Exact same thing happened to me....its your BCM (blower control module). Replace that, and your good to go. I got one at a junk yard off of a taurus or sable (cant remember) with the climate control unit. Couple screws and a wiring harness and your done.

BTW: The BCM is up under the passenger foot area...behind the glove box...little black piece with a hose coming off one end and an open tube on the other side. (I think thats right...someone will chime in if I am wrong... )

Mine did the same thing last night. I drove it through some very heavy rain and probably a few deep puddles. Could it be that the temp sensor under the hood got wet? Did any of you encounter heavy rain and water?

Yep, after the rain cleared up, the ecc started to work right again?? Maybe there is a wire under the hood that has a connection to the BCM that may have gotten some water in it. Next time it acts up I may spray some wd40 on some connections to see which connection it is that acts up.

These modules are kind of hard to find and very expensive from the dealer. What likes to happen to these is that water will get down in the blower cage and corrode the circuit board on the speed controller. This takes time to happen but eventually it will do permanant damage to the speed control and it will have to be replaced. I have fixed 3 of these with water damage so far. If you want to be cautious remove the speed control from the blower assy and clean the board up, then apply some type of electrical conformal coating to water proof the circuit board. This is the way it comes from Ford.

Good luck...
