Curious, I got through the whole process and I put the oil on and let it cure overnight. I picked it up this morning and there was oil all over the paper towels I put under it and it dripped a few times. I made sure it wasn't dripping anymore when I put it on the SHO, but it's very oily. My question is, before I start-up my SHO, should I be worried? Did I oil it too much? Should I not start it up?

Let it sit on paper towels for another day or two just to make sure. Or, start the whole process over again.

Is there anyway I can make sure it's good so I can drive it today? I need it for today. It SEEMS as though most of the inside is dry as I shook it a bit and nothing came out, it's just the outside is so oily, my hands were covered in red when I finished putting it in...

Then just stick it in and drive. Worse-case scenario you'll need to clean the MAF filaments in a couple weeks.

So I don't have to worry about sucking oil down into my intake and screwing my engine?

Heh, well thanks for the responses guys. I appreciate it, I'm still automotively challenged (see: ********), but I'm learning, heh heh.

ya, retard.. :bonk:

It won't hurt anything, just make sure to clean your MAF a coulple times.. You're intake runners will prolly get gunked up too, but its not the end of the world..

At least you know it will filter well!

I would personally go back to a stocker dry filter. They have all been flowbenched and all do about the same. Ive never had good luck with K&N filters on SHOs. Seems they need to be cleaned all the time and fowel up the MAF every other day.
