I clean my engine bay every time I wash the car. I just spray the degreaser on then power wash the whole compartment, and go crazy on everything, wires and all. No problems ever. I also power wash the crap out of the alternator to clean that belt dust off, no problems.

BTW, Rick, we have lots of rain down here! We just had a period of 3 days, basically non-stop, rain and flooding. And before that we had rain like every other day. I think more is coming! ;)

Be VERY careful with a hose and an SHO engine. I found this out the hard way last week and am still having problems with mine....
I want to race at the track this guy goes to. Man, pulling 12 flat with a 305hp cobra(NA), and a stock SHO running mid 14's. The new supercharged 390hp cobras can't even touch yours bro.

If your engine is coated in greasy dirt you will have to use a degreaser like Gunk to get it off. I've used it before and then washed the engine off with water. Just used a garden hose no high pressure stuff. Then let the car idle for 30 minutes to dry everything off.

WD 40 is very good for the electrical connections as it repels and displaces water. If a connector has previously been liberally sprayed with WD 40 then left to dry without wiping off it is pretty well waterproofed.

Once the engine has the grease off what I do to keep it clean is spray the entire compartment down with tire foam. Let it run off and if there is a lot of dirt spray it again then with a rag wipe everything down before it dries.
