Picked up a 2014 non PP in June. I don't have a ton of money to throw at it for upgrades but I read too much into what others have done to sit here and let it be stock. So far the K&N intake is the only perforomance upgrade I've made. Has anyone had experience with the MRT axle back exhaust? Corsa cat back is too much for me to invest at the moment and I feel the MRT has decent sound at a good price. Currently on the fence between that and a tuner for it. Would love input on either item if you have experience or suggestions.Webpnet resizeimage 1 Webpnet resizeimage

Welcome. If you want performance a tune is definitely the best bang for the buck

I agree. I'd love input on some of the plug and play tuners out there. I'm just not familiar with that side of things. I know an exhaust will mostly just be for my ears, but it's something I'll enjoy every day with no worries.

I vote tune as that will give you the most bang for the buck. I personally have a tune from Livernois and couldn't be happier, so they get my vote. With them, you upload the requested tune and toss the device in the glove box or wherever you prefer. Other tuners such as Torrie from Unleashed, you can datalog to fine tune your tune and the device is fancier to look at. Between the two however, performance is pretty much the same.

Which of their kits did you get or did you just get their tuner device? My concern with some of the other tuners is that it'll just replicate the throttle response of sport mode and not do much else.

Welcome, and congrats on the new ride! MRT has a very specific sound, some people like it some don't. I do like it, have heard it on the Focus and the Edge, not the SHO though.

Just the tuner and I would recommend a 3bar MAP as well.

Second that, if you want a good all year round plug and play no worries tune then I would recommend LIvernois Motorsports MyCal tuner. I would also highly suggest getting the 3BAR map as well. You can't go wrong with a tune. And theirs is pretty much plug and play all day.

I found a used MyCal, paid to have it locked to my car and bought new plugs and 3-bar sensor from rockauto and a 170 thermostat from stage3motorsports. All said and done it ended up being like, $610 and I did the work myself. Trust me, the change is far better than Sport mode and you'll be kicking yourself not tuning from day one.

The plugs are a good point. I would at least check they are in good shape and the gap in within spec if not replace them before a tune.

Motorcraft SP534 and gap of 0.030 is the most preferred so far. There is talk of the SP542 being better, but in the testing stages.

bpd1151 uses NGK plugs, that is another option.
