Cincy cowl question

With steel reinforcement plates in the latch area and 1.5" square threaded aluminum blocks built into the hinge area, this design is a strong and long lasting modification to your SHO.

Are these plates molded under the fibreglass? I was looking at a new Cincy cowl that I recently aquired and don't notice any steel reinforcement plates on the outside nor inside surface of the hood.

I know most people don't use hood pins for Cincy hoods, so the steel plates are probably molded inside the fibreglass itself. Would that assumption be correct?

No. Those plates have to be riveted on by the owner, in this case, you.

Really all they do is keep your latch from ripping up the glass as you close the hood. They only offer minimal at best retention from blowing open at speed.

So these plates really offer no protection for the hood latching at speed at all?

no cincysho hoods that i know of have ever "lifted off" only the carbon fiber ones.

None whatsoever. Held in place by four little rivets that only pop through the 'glass.

O.S.D., no one is suggesting the Cincy hoods do. I'm only making the point that the plates offer little to no protection from that, so as to eliminate any false sense of security the unknowing may have. Thanks however for your input.
