chinsin on the intake gasket

i spent a good 4 hours today replacing my plug seals/wires/plugs/valve cover gaskets.

on removing the intake i noticed the intake gasket could use replacement also.. i think it would be the upper to lower intake plenum gasket (but have noticed alot of you guys call it the intake to head gasket i think) its where the lower intake tubes mate to the rest of the engine.

can i be cheap and dab some rtv on the mating surfaces that have lost their black coating? i noticed the gasket already had like an oily residue on the surfaces (over the black coating that is remaining.. i'd say 96% is intact) dont know what that cause would be.

anyways after noticing how much cleaning i can do once i get in there i spent alot of time scrubbing. will finish up tomorrow so theres still time to replace that gasket if absolutly necessary.

I spent the $35 and bought new Fel-Pro intake gaskets for mine. I really wouldnt use RTV on those metal gaskets...if the black stuff is flaking off I would definatly replace them. The part number was MS94831
