My "check oil light" came on about a week ago, so I pulled over and saw that I was a little low (near the "add qt" hash marks). So I added a qt and the light shut off. Today on my way into work my COL came on again so when I got to work I checked the dipstick and it reads over the level by a little bit, I checked it a few times just to be sure and it read consisitant every time. So my question is will the COL come on if you have too much oil ? and why would it come on a week after adding a qt and not let me know I had too much sooner then it did ?

Thank You
Happy Halloween

Not sure what your talking about, and they were not bad and had many more miles left. Labor was done by NESHO. please read my first post as I have a pretty specific question about the "check oil light" I do thank you for your concern about my rod bearings though.

well if nesho did the work i think i would trust they did a good job, the next thing to check would be oil pressure, low oil pressure will send a col. possible oil pump?

The check oil light has nothing to do the pressure related to rod bearings. At the back side of the oil pan above the drain plug there is a sensor for this maybe the wire is loose or the sensor itself is not working right anymore.
The red oil light is the pressure warning light not the yellow check oil light.

Id check for a faulty sensor or a broken wire of the sort. The light shouldn't come on when over full, as it senses when there is no oil at the sensor. If there's oil at the sensor whether its at the correct level or over full it wont matter, no light should come on. Id replace the sensor and be on my way.

The low oil sensor and gasket is available from Ford. IIRC, it cost me around $55 a couple of years ago.
