Took the car in for an oil change/rotate tires and before I went in everything was fine. Get the car back and the check engine light comes on. When you first start the car the light stays off for about 10 seconds, then comes on and stays on. I have checked the gas cap and oil filler cap, both are fine. Anyone got any suggestions? Many thanks.

Thanks again for your help. I had taken the wife's Odessey by my mechanics shop for its servicing and mentioned to him that my check engine light was on. He has an 89 SHO and since he had an opening right then I thought I would get him to run a scan on the motor. The bozos I took it to for an oil change left the MAF unhooked, and I have no idea what they were doing fooling around with that. I had only wanted an oil change, but I do know I won't be going back. They are a national chain, but I noticed all the personel have changed over, so I guess I should have known. The fellow who takes care of the Honda says he doesn't mind doing oil changes, so I will be taking the SHO to him. Again, many thanks for your help.

Some oil change places will remove the airbox cover (to check the air filter) and the intake hose from the airbox to the throttle body, swab the throttle body opening, and try to sell you an injector service if the throttle body is a mess. That could explain what they were doing in there. Anyway, I'm glad you got it figured out. Gotta love simple fixes! :thumb:

You took the words right outa my mouth, Corey.

Even though I have the K & N "STOP" sticker on the airbox lid, they still look.

Yeah, when things get fixed quickly it's all good. The fellow I take the wifes Honda to does a great job (about 1/2 the price that the dealership wants), and he is honest to boot. I will take the car to him for the oil changes from now on; it's not as convenient, but so what.

I am also lucky that a fellow on my hockey team is a certified Ford Tranny mechanic, as well as being certified in just about everything else. So far he has rebuilt the transmission on the SHO, replaced the clutch on the air conditioning, replaced the windshield wiper motor/gov, full tune up, & brake jobs. So far I figure he has saved me something around $6000 from what the dealership wanted, and when he tells me something needs to be fixed I believe him. Having honest mechanics on your side is pretty cool.

Again, many thanks for your help. Cheers!
