I was looking at SHO Shop's website because I know they have Strut Tower Braces, the Carbon one "looks" nice, but I was wondering if anyone sold them for less. SHO Shop wants $200 each, Front and Rear.

BTW: Does anyone have pictures of the Carbon STB?

Thanks

Marc

sunny San Juan Bautista,
Bob Gervais of Anonda Motorsports makes them and has done a couple group buys for considerably less. He's backed up right now so you might just want to do a wait and see. Check out the classified section and do a search for STB and click on the most recent threads. Also in one of those there's a link to the group buy thread on TCCA. That thread is a little more informative.

I'll probably be making my own one of these days (to test out my half *** welding skills ). I don't expect to save much money over Bob's pricing if I go with high quality materials (top grade teflon lined rod ends, chromemoly steel tubing).

Ok thanks.

Is there any real difference between carbon fiber and steel STB's? I didnt think there was, it's just that carbon probably looks nicer.

I went to Anonda's website, nothing works, the links go to the same blank screen. And I did a search, doesnt seem like he's had a Group Buy for awhile.

The carbon fiber ones weighed significantly less. They looked pretty sweet too. That is all in the past tense because even though they are still listed on the website, they are no longer available.

I'd be interested in grabbing some from Anonda as well sometime in the near future... If you get into contact with Mr. Gervais, let me know - you can drop the info (pricing, etc.) on this thread if you like...

Does anyone know if he (or anyone else) makes a rear STB for JBL Subwoofer-equipped cars? Otherwise, I'm stuck with the $160 ShoShop offering, and I may as well dismount the sub and put the cash towards an audio upgrade...

He PMed me back some info and said that he had to find out the price from the steel supplier, so he's not sure of the price yet. But he will be making some more.

Actually bobs are expensive... I got both mine for about half the price he sells one(maybe less)... I paid around $50 dollars for mine(front and rear) and can now get them even cheaper! they also SHOULD fit around the stock subwoofer. I'm not positive about that. I didn't make them, I bought them. The front one I had a little trouble with but I put it in the vice and made it work with a little help. It was a little too bent from the factory. Pm me for details on where to get them! THIS IS NOT AN AD! I"M NOT MAKING ANY MONEY ON THIS! I just don't like divulging my secrets to everyone... They might make fun of me. :bonk: When you find out where they came from you will too...

I'd even buy them from walmart if they were only $50. :p E-mail or PM if you actually want to give out the location and they work well. (Or just post it here)

I'll tell you all as long as no one laughs! They are from Ebay and they are NEON STRUT BRACES!
The front neon strut brace fits in the rear(it's not a perfect fit, but it works). The front brace(fits in the rear) has a curve that goes up and if you turn it upside down it SHOULD fit around the subwoofer. I had to turn it upside down anyway to clear my package tray. The front brackets are the part that is difficult. They fit well but only to 2 bolts and it is turned a little bit.
The Above is only for a Neon front brace that fits in the rear!
The front of the Taurus needs the rear brace brackets but has to have the front brace bar. You will need to buy the set off of ebay for the front and the rear(they sell a set for less than $22 + shipping) and then buy another front(the cheapest I've seen is close to $5 + shipping). The front of the Taurus is a little longer so I had to put the bar in the vice to straighten it a little bit. You can buy all 3 seperately or in a kit for the 2(front and rear). It would be cheaper to buy them all seperately but the shipping would **** you. You will need 2 front and 1 rear to make this work so in the end you would have a front set of brackets and a rear bar leftover. The bars are made from 6061 aluminum and weigh very little but they seem to be strong enough for my car and have not bent. I have driven very litle soince I got them in but when I did I drove it very hard(even got the back end sliding a couple times). They did not seem to flex much at all!

So there you go! That was my secret and the reason I did not want to tell everyone is because I despise neons and some of you probably know that. If you need any more help let m e know and I'll explain it for you.

Using the neons braces sounds cool, but there are different braces for the SOHC and DOHC neon engines. Which did you use?

The ones on ebay weren't different. They are the same for single and dual cams as far as I know(and my bro has a lot of neons and is more obsessed with them than I am with my SHO!). here is a link to one.Click me!:D They weren't specified as being different.
