I had the powerflush 10,000 miles ago at an Express **** (I assume they used their generic Mercon fluid). My odometer is just about to hit 100K  ...
I am thinking of dropping the pan and just changing the filter and cleaning the magnet this summer... and replacing the 4 or so quarts that fill the pan with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF. And from here on out, just repeating this procedure once a year.
What do you guys think? (I don't see anything at v8sho.com along this train of thought)...

Changing the ATF in the pan is the hardest part. Once you have changed the 3-4qts in there, swapped the filter, cleaned the pan & magnet, and buttoned it back up, it's very easy to change the remaining 12 quarts. Of course, ATF costs money, but I'd still pony up and change it all. I generally use Mobil 1 ATF because it's readily available. I might order some AMSoil ATF next time around. Damn, it's almost that time already--I can't believe I put 20K on this car already. :omg:

If you drive your car hard, I'd recomend flushing the enitre system every 15-20k. This would include changing the filter as well. While this may seem too expensive to do so often, its not much compared to the cost of a new tranny. As for my opinion on tranny fluids, use nothing less than a Mercon 5 grade (many brand names available). Ive heard redline is a good fluid to use but at $8/qt, it can get pricey.
