any tips you guys can recommened or point me in the direction of a write up for it ??

do i need new tensiors ?? i herd abotu the tensioners going bad and making the belt sqeal..i dont have that but are the old tensiorners usually used or are new ones required ??

also do i have to remove the intake to do the timing belt cause if so, im thinking of installing new spark plugs while its off...i herd thats the easiest way ....what do you guys say ??

how do you take the intake off ?? like is it hard to do ??

my car has 150 000 kms on it ..probley closer to 160 000 kms when im ready to do this work, but thats what 80-90 thousnad miles ?? i think its better to be safe then sorry ...i dont want to **** my motor and i think my car was driven hard by its previous owner...soo i want to do all i can to help it. i dont have oil in my plug wells ...soo the seals is off the list..i dont want to dive into anything that has to do with the heads.....soo im leaving well enough alone..

1: the only part of the intake that you would take off to make things easier is the crossover tube. This to get access to the timing belt cover bolts.

2: you dont need a new tensioner as the one you have is probably working fine (a bad one will make your timing belt all sloppy resulting in a loud knocking noise much like bad rod bearings.

3: tools you need: well, besides the standard tools to remove stuff, the one unique item is a harmonic balancer puller. You can rent them from az for free (25.00 deposit) or you can buy one cheaply enough (about 15.00).

Process is very easy:

1: Loosen the crank bolt using the bump the starter method. Put the 3/8 inch breaker bar handle on the subframe (handle facing forward with the socket on the crank bolt, handle resting on the subframe ledge. disconnect the DIS module wires so your car doesnt actually start. Turn the key for just a quick sec...like the title says: bump it. the bolt will break free. Then just loosen it out normally.

Very briefly cause I'm tired and its late:

take out battery, battery tray, crossover tube, timing belt covers. Remove HB using the puller. Detension the belt and stick a finishing nail in the hole on the tensioner. Slip the belt off. Line up the timing marks, (12 12 and 5 IIRC). There are dots on all the sprockets and lines on the motor. Put the new belt on so all the lines match up. Retension the belt. and reinsstall everythign in reverse order.

But since you are in there consider a water pump and cps to save time....another 80 bucks or so in parts but worth not having to do the work again.

thanx man ....i dunno i might need a new tensonier then cause when you lift the hood..its almost like a growling sound coming from the timing belt area...liek something isnt right ..i dunno ...

ill look into it more but i gotta figure out if i can get parts and what not...

i am consdiering doing the timing belt over christmas break and the bearings over march break but we will see what happens...

im sure it would be better if both were done ...even if i dont plan on beatin on my car ...i like to put my foot down once in a while...feel those secondaires open ya know

Not to step on any toes here, when I did this I tried that bump the starter method to get the bolt out on the crank pulley. Only to strip the **** out of that bolt, I then had to drill it out, locate one and put it all back together. If there is even a small chance of this happening to you, rent or buy an impact. Mine broke so I tried the other way and ended up wishing I had spent the money on a replacement wrench. Never again
