I would think if that was the case then they wouldn't of bothered changing it .

Just flushed mine.
Grab a 3/8th clear tube about 6 foot.
Grab a gallon or two of Type F ATF. I used Castrol. Also get some Lucas PS fluid.
Get a 3/8th double barb fitting I used plastic.
Pull the small return line from ps resevoir and have a plastic cup underneath to catch the run off. Then place a a few inches of tube there to keep it from leaking out and clamp it. I used vice grips. Now hook up the rest of the tubing to the double barb and the return line.
Use a funnel to pour the ATF into the resevoir. You'll need a friend to start the car and turn the steering wheel back and forth while you fill the reservoir. Be careful it goes quick. Once the fluid begins to turn red and not some nasty black color, shut the car off.
Hook all back up and fill with the rest of the ATF but leave room in the reservoir for about 12oz of the Lucas PS fluid. This will help with the whine and give you some time before replacing the ps pump. Good luck and be carefull. I'm not responsible for your F up.
