Changing oil filter =mess

Is there a trick to keep the oil from the oil filter durring a swap out from getting on the exaust pipe? I tried a pice of a magazine last time but wasn't too succesful.

You can cut an empty bottle of washer fluid into the shape of a scoop. You can keep the handle, and choose whether or not you unscrew the cap to let it drain out away from the starter or to catch the oil with the filter.

Ted B. mentioned a remote oil filter kit - I've used those before on GM G-Bodies nicely. Ask him if he's got the part number of the kit. The last one I used was a transdapt (TD) or something like that, from Summit Racing.
