The SHO finally needs brakes, so I'm going to crawl my amateur ass under there and do it myself. I'm not sure how old the rotors are, so if I can get a decent price I'll be doing them too. I have very little experience with brakes; aside from stuck fasteners and spraying brake fluid, what should I watch out for while replacing the pads and rotors?

I just did my rear rotors and pads. I did mine cuz the shops around here wanted 275.00 oh_my So first thing I did was a search in this forum. Found all the help I needed but I'll tell ya what I did. First get the tool to depress the caliper piston( a must) from Napa Part kd3355 I think, its the round thingy you put on your rachet. Jack it up and sray the bolts to loosen em up.You'll see what bolts need removing.I did'nt need to remove the brake line just move the caliper out of the way and no need to remove the spindle nut just bang on the rotor if needed and slip it off. I spent a lot of time working on the caliper piston getting it back in but don't do what I did and bunch up the rubber boot or you will then have to get another caliper. It may lock up and you'll be smoken' at a red light like me. The thing about getting another caliper off and on for me was pulling off the e-brake cable.Used a visegrip and leverage on the caliper face. It all took more time than it should have but next time will be a cakewalk  But hey I just got my 91+ a month ago and this was my first project. The info on these boards was really good and made it possible for a novice like me. As for the fronts I don't have a clue. Probably similar though. Oh and don't forget to bleed the brakes. :D
Good Luck SilverSho

One more tip, pick up a service book. IT's really handy when you aren't sure how things go back together (happened to me!).

I just did my fronts 2 days ago. I used the write up on SHOTimes.com. It is fairly good, but i also have two manuals. As far as prices, I don't know if you have an AUTO ZONE there, but here is what I paid. I got Valuecraft(the guy said same as AIMCO's) rotors for $20 per rotor. I got the Performance Friction Metallic Pads for $28.99 w/ a lifetime warranty. It all came to 78.88(got fluid to bleed the lines also)and i don't know what yur tax % is. Any questions PM me.
