I called Ford and they said there was a change to the clutch in 1991 and the new kit won't fit on the 89 or 90 model ( mine is a 90) unless I change the flywheel, Anyone go through this yet?

This is true...the diameter of the flywheel went from 9" to 9.75" due to problems with the smaller diameter.(needed more contact area I think) The new kits are made for the 9.75" flywheel...and I know the original equipment for at least some '90's (if not all) is the 9" flywheel.

My brother went through it a few years back...the larger flywheel is needed if you ask me...maybe you could buy it from someone online here...

The likelyhood of it actually still having the old small clutch is slim. They failed quickly are were recalled. I can only think of one person in recent history that has run across one. Anyway, I have an extra 9.75" flywheel if you need one. Shoot me a PM if your interested.

Yup, the originals were 9.25" and were recalled. A 9.75" was the replacement.
